History


The colony history began at Columbia University Institute for Cancer research under the direction of Curtis in 1920. From there the rats were raised at Heston in 1949. Next, they were bred at NIH in 1950. Taconic received and bred them beginning in 1984. Hilltop first received and began breeding the colony beginning in 1995. All colony histories contain some possibility of inaccuracy. This information is provided to the best of Hilltop's knowledge.
